Tigers
|
The tigers at our park must be healthy and happy. We've had several babies born here; Some right in Tom's bed!
"Five of eight subspecies of tigers survive: the Siberian (or Amur) tiger, the South China tiger, the Indochinese tiger, the Sumatran tiger and the Bengal tiger. Today, tigers in the wild live in Eastern Russia, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal. Siberian tigers are generally the heaviest, with males weighing over 700 pounds, while male Sumatran tigers only weigh about 250-pounds. On average, male tigers are heavier than female tigers. Tigers can eat up to 77 pounds of meat in one night - the equivalent of 300 hamburgers. Large tigers need to eat an average of 15 pounds of meat a day. |
